These are the standards the BrushCoating Editorial Team follows in choosing, writing, and updating everything published on this site.
Independence
Our content is written to inform readers. No company, manufacturer, or organization pays for coverage, influences what an article concludes, or reviews it before it goes live. Subjects are selected because they help explain how technology developed, not because anyone asked us to feature them.
No sponsored content
We do not publish sponsored articles, paid placements, or advertorial material. Nothing on the site is written in exchange for money, products, or favors. If that ever changes, we will say so plainly on this page and label any such material clearly.
No product recommendations or prices
This is a history and comparison site, not a buying guide. We do not recommend products, rank brands, or quote prices. Company and product names appear only when they are part of the historical record, such as who introduced something and when. Contextual conclusions are about kinds of technology and kinds of needs, never about what to purchase.
Accuracy and sources
Every article lists its references, and we prefer museums, libraries, archives, universities, standards bodies, and primary documentation. Our approach to dates, numbers, and reference models is set out in the methodology. We do not publish figures we cannot support.
When sources disagree
Histories of technology are full of competing claims, parallel inventors, and dates that depend on definitions. When reliable sources conflict, we do not quietly pick one. We say that they differ, explain the reasons where we can, and word the article so that it does not claim more than the evidence allows. If a question is genuinely unsettled, we say that too.
No fabricated quotes or people
We do not invent quotations, experts, testimonials, or case studies. If we attribute a statement to someone, it comes from an identifiable source that we can point to. Otherwise we describe events in our own words.
Image policy
The photographs on this site are used under the Pexels license and are credited to their photographers on the image credits page. Diagrams and icons are original. Images illustrate a topic and are not claimed to show a specific historical object unless the caption says so.
Balance and tone
We avoid hype and nostalgia alike. Older technologies are not treated as quaint, and newer ones are not treated as automatically superior. Where a claim depends on context, we say what the context is.

We fix errors promptly and record meaningful changes on the affected page. To report a problem, follow the steps on the corrections page.
