If you spot something inaccurate, unclear, or out of date, we want to hear about it and fix it.
How to report an error
You can reach the editorial team in either of two ways:
- Use the contact form.
- Write to [email protected].
Email is our only contact channel. We do not use social media accounts for corrections.
What to include
A useful report helps us check the issue quickly. Please tell us:
- Which page the problem is on, ideally with its address.
- The sentence or claim you believe is wrong.
- What you think is correct.
- Any source that supports your view, such as a museum page, book, archive record, or original document.
You do not need to be an expert. A well-placed question is often enough to prompt a closer look. The contact form asks for your name, email address, and a message, which we use only to reply.
What happens next
We read every report. The editorial team then checks the claim against reliable sources, using the same priorities described in our methodology: museums, libraries, archives, universities, standards bodies, and primary documentation. If the article is wrong, we correct it. If the sources disagree, we may revise the wording to show that disagreement instead of choosing one side. If we conclude that the article is right, we will explain why when we reply.
How corrections are shown
When we change an article in a meaningful way, we note the correction and its date on the article itself, so readers can see what changed and when. Small edits, such as fixing a typo or improving a sentence, may be made without a note. We do not remove corrections after the fact to make a page look cleaner.
Suggestions and other feedback
Corrections are not the only feedback we welcome. If you think an explanation could be clearer, a comparison is missing an important point, or a pair of technologies deserves its own article, tell us. We cannot promise to act on every suggestion, but we do read them.
Response time
We aim to review reports carefully rather than quickly, and some will take longer than others when sources are hard to reach. We may not be able to reply to messages that are unrelated to the site's content.
